This experience is called "the dark night of the soul." Believers through the ages have experienced this. The experience is as old as Job, in the Old Testament. Your faith may cost you everything, but God remains faithful. Jesus said "Follow me." He also said that it is hard for the rich to enter into Heaven.
My "dark night" experience lasted years, with varying degrees of hope and joy, dispair and darkness. God remains faithful.
My wife was, and is, my best friend, supporter and co-traveller in this experience. She did not let me decend into the depths of dispair, but always supported and helped me. god remains faithful.
Bible verses that helped me were:
Romans 8:28
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
and
John 14:1-6
"Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. [2] "In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. [3] "If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. [4] "And you know the way where I am going." [5] Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?" [6] Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me."

There are other Bible verses, but those are the main ones. Yes, I believe I am stronger. Paul also wrote that we suffer these things so that we may also comfort those who are suffering with the comfort with which we are comforted.

Im sure everybody has, but it is Satan working against us and God, since Satan is the ruler of the world (for the time being). A good book of comfort is the book of Job in the bible. Job went through a lot and was still loyal to God. Here is a common question asked by people going through a tough situation:

If God is love, why does he permit wickedness?
GOD does permit wickedness, and millions on earth willfully make a practice of it. For instance, they declare wars, drop bombs on children, scorch the earth, and cause famines. Millions smoke and get lung cancer, practice adultery and get sexually transmitted diseases, use alcohol to excess and get cirrhosis of the liver, and so on. Such people do not truly want all wickedness stopped. They only want the penalties for it eliminated. When they reap what they have sown, they cry out, "Why me?" And they blame God, as Proverbs 19:3 says: "A man's own folly wrecks his life, and then he bears a grudge against the LORD." (The New English Bible) And if God stopped their evildoing, they would protest their loss of freedom to do it!

Jehovah's main reason for permitting evil is to answer Satan's challenge. Satan the Devil said that God could not put men on earth who would be true to Him under test. (Job 1:6-12; 2:1-10) Jehovah allows Satan to remain to have opportunity to prove his challenge. (Exodus 9:16) Satan continues to bring woes now, to turn men against God, as he tries to prove his challenge. (Revelation 12:12) However, Job kept integrity. So did Jesus. True Christians do now.—Job 27:5; 31:6; Matthew 4:1-11; 1 Peter 1:6, 7.

I really hope this information has helped you. Don't hesitate to email me if you would like more information or other comforting Bible texts.

The people who are trashing my life right now are not following God's commandments at all, so running away from God into more of that isn't likely to help. Right now when I cry to God in pain, I really do feel His comforting presence. Also, when I open the Bible or turn the TV on to a religious channel or go to a religious website and say, "Please, God, help me!" something really comforting or helpful to my situation comes up.

I think I would feel uncomfortable if I were the only one around with no problems. Right now I am so sad I can hardly breathe, but I am confident that in the end God will make me glad.

Some of my favorite promises are:
"I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten... " (Joel 2:25) and
"Fear thou not; for I am with thee. Be not dismayed; for I am thy God. I will strengthen thee. Yea, I will help thee. Yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness. (Isaiah 41:10 )

Always remember: you are not alone!

Yes, when my first husband passed away and left me with a 15 month old daughter to raise. I always wanted to ask God "why" even though I know you're not supposed to. He blessed me with family and friends to lean on over the years. I asked God what was gonna happen to my baby, Lisa and I. He showed me Isaiah 54:4-10. No matter what...I will always love God. He must of had a really good reason for taking my Brian "home". As much as I miss him, I know Brian is watching over Lisa, our granddaughter Savannah and myself. I feel him around me every now and then and I know Savannah has felt him too...

If people think that when you become a Christian that your life will be filled with nothing but roses, they are saddly mistaken. When satan looses a soul to Jesus through their accepting Him as there savior, satan is roaring mad. He is going to do what ever it takes to turn you away from God.

Just know that you are no longer going through life alone, and that Jesus is right there at your side through it all. He will even take that burden from you if you ask Him to.

Life as a Chrisitian is more challenging and harder, but it is also a spirit strengthening experience too. and a fulfilling one as well. Jesus will not let you take on more than you can handle. If you ask Jesus for advice on all decisions in your life, you will not have those problems you did when you did not ask for His advice, and tried to do things on your own. and failed.

Keep the faith.

Yes ,when i was younger I semi believed as I grew intellectually, I Grew Up .
Everything that goes on in your life is just LIFE.
Some choices you make will have either good or bad results .It`s a crap-shoot .I really walked away from God when he took my mother from my father and her 3 sons.
She died a horrible death ( cancer ) for a woman who was always giving and kind .Her death devastated many lives and the only lesson learned was that there is no God .
She was only 55 at the time .

Not so much THAT,.............Satan HATES for you to follow God, so He tries EVERY WAY to get your faith to lessen, just like you said. But you have to fight him back, by calling him a liar. He IS a liar. When he(satan) tries, or puts someone in my path as a stumbling block NOW,....I realize it and I either sing a hymn, or thank Jesus that He loves me sooooo much, and I don't finish the negative thought that satan tries to put in my head.

You CAN do that,...just DON'T finish the thought. Every bad thought IS from satan. EVERY thing GOOD and pure and true is God.

God works out ALL bad things, for YOUR good. You chase God, and His blessings will chase YOU!

After you see how God uses something bad, for your good, it will make you remember NEXT time, how AWESOME He is, and how He was there for you,,..And how He will be there again NEXT time.

He has your life planned out, just think!..So, you can sit back and enjoy your life more. Don't try so hard to make things work yourself, but go to God in prayer, asking, and believing, and He will do what you ask, if it is for the better.

I have had some hard times because of bad decisions but have
never turned from God. Sometimes I just had to get from Day
to Day and try to have something to look forward to tomorrow.
But, with me, I have always had a Guardian Angel (My Grandfather) and whenever someone does something to hurt me something bad will happeen to them. Mostly it is just their
evil coming out and causing them trouble. But rather than read
the Bible for inspiration I just obey God's laws and try to be happy

there is one verse that popped into my mind when reading your question. "God works all things together for the good for those who love him" Romans 8:28 Notice here that we are not promised that all things that happen will be good, but that all things that happen God will work it out so that it has a good outcome. one other verse comes to mind here:
James 1:12 Blessed is the man who PERSEVERES under trial, because when he has stood the test, he WILL RECEIVE the CROWN OF LIFE that God has promised to those WHO LOVE HIM.

My prayer for you is Isa. 40:11 may he pick you up and hold you close to his heart, and comfort you.

Don't know what you are heavy laden with but am praying for you. hope you are encouraged.

Yes. I have often found that sometimes when everything is going so smoothly and you are on the right path, Satan feels it is his job to tempt you and throw you off track.

Of great comfort to me recently was the Book of Job. I particularly found comfort in Chapters 3, 4 and 5. In Chapter 4 verses 4-6 it is written: 4) Thy words have upholden him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees. 5) But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled. 6) Is not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy hope, and the uprightness of thy ways?

I also like Romans.
