Many HATE what they perceive of the Roman Catholic Faith, not the truth of Roman Catholicism.

The Rosary was the way to teaching biblical passages to people who could not read. So the rosary is the first biblical study course offered by Saint Dominic to the peasant people.

Is Mary the Mother of God? Check out the Catechism of the Catholic Church for the belief. You will find Rosary.

Protestants do not recognize Mary as the mother of God or the communion of saints since they are not supported in the Christian bible.

Praying to Mary (saying the rosary) is not a practice shared by all Christian.

Note: I am an ordained priest. I have many of titles like Father, Reverend, Reverend Father, Doctor but none will change what you believe. So pray the rosary, but don't expect Protestants to change their beliefs.

Justin, Justin, Justin. Asking for clear thinking from a protestant is a waste of time.

Don't forget that protestants also say we worship statues. And that we worship Mary. And that the only reason we use wine in communion instead of grape juice as they do is so we can get drunk during church. And that there's a tunnel built from the rectory to the convent next door so the priests and nuns can meet without being seen.

Give me a break. This is coming from the people who have never stepped foot inside a Catholic Church.

Justin, trying to encourage some sort of coherent thought out of these people is a waste of time.

Maybe they are not making false accusations, and just maybe the priests have not taking the time to check the history of the Catholic Church.

Most people who use the Rosary believe that the practice originated with Christianity. However, historical evidence discloses that the practice of reciting prayers and counting them on a string of beads predated the beginning of Christianity. Commenting on the origin of the Rosary, The World Book Encyclopedia reports: “Prayer beads are of ancient origin, and were probably first used by the Buddhists. Both Buddhists and Muslims make use of them in their prayers.” The Catholic Encyclopedia acknowledges that prayer beads were universally familiar to non-Christians for centuries and were in use long before the Catholic Church adopted the Rosary.

The World Book Encyclopedia says: “Early forms of praying with a rosary began in Christianity during the Middle Ages, but became widespread only in the 1400’s and 1500’s.”

The book Symbols of Catholicism. The rosary is a religious exercise in honor of the Virgin Mary. The term also refers to the string of beads used to count prayers. “Five sets of ten beads, separated by an individual bead,” explains the same book, “are an invitation to fifty recitations of ‘Hail Mary’, five of ‘Our Father’, and five of ‘Glory be to the Father.’” Does God listen with favor to the devout recitation of the rosary?

The instructions that Jesus gave to his disciples provide us with an authoritative answer. “When praying, do not say the same things over and over again, just as the people of the nations do,” he said, “for they imagine they will get a hearing for their use of many words.” (Matthew 6:7) So Jesus specifically told his followers to avoid repeating set formulas in their prayers.

Christians view prayer as a most valuable provision of the Creator, a real gift to be highly prized. Prayer is respectful speech to Almighty God. It should convey our innermost feelings and heartfelt thoughts. “Prayer should be an expression of one’s friendship with God,” says the New Catholic Encyclopedia. Petitioning God should never become a meaningless routine, nor should we hold rigidly to some favorite set of memorized words.

Does the Rosary contribute to such meaningful prayers? Jeannine observed that reciting “Hail Marys” on the Rosary “became unconsciously repetitious.” Repeating the same words on the Rosary did not bring her closer to God. Said another former Catholic nun, Lydia: “I did not find anything instructive in reciting the Rosary. I would have preferred reading books on religion.” Repetitious prayers serve no useful purpose, since God has promised: “Before they call, I will answer.” Almighty God appreciates and answers petitions that are said with the right motive and that come from an honest and sincere heart. The Rosary does not help a person to approach God with meaningful, heartfelt prayers.

Dear Justin,

Both of my parents are Catholic and taught us the rosary. However, the Bible never mentions the word "rosary". Even when I was still in the catholic church I realized that this is not "true" prayer nor is it pleasing to God. Repeating words over and over is useless.
The Bible is God's word and that is where we are to get all information concerning doctrine and practice. If you will read Ecclesiastes 5, you will find that we are to spare our verbage before Almighty God. He is God and He is Holy. We should always come humbly before God also.... We never demand anything of the Lord! And that is also why we should always end our prayers with, "not my will but Thine be done".
I do not want to upset you but the rosary is a Hindu mantra.
Oh, and one more thing, Christians are never to pray to anyone else except God. The rosary contains a prayer to Mary, who should never be prayed to.

I know about catholics because I was one for 11 years of my life. I am bless that God sent a Christian man to me who introduced me to Jesus and I am now a born again Christian, and no longer Catholic. I saw enough of what goes on with priests and nuns, and the baby skelletons that were dug up from under the nun convent when they torn it down. They do not teach the true word of God, nor to they practice it.

catholics add to their teachings, this is wrong. Catholics follow what the priest says and not reading the bible for their self..if they would, they would know the truth. they are being mislead, truly! i say that with love...what about the treaties? that's not biblical...much more, that's all i will say for now. scripture can back this up as well.

Because that's what they're taught at their "services."
I dont mean any disrespect, but it's true.

I'm a Catholic, by the way, and I to have to endure this ignorance.

Some have probably got their info from Converted Catholics and they tell the Protestants what it means. Email me what the Bible actually teaches about the rosary and please explain it. Thanks
