there are certain mysteries that go with certain days. such as the sorrowful mysteries, the joyful or (luminous) mysteries, and the miraculous mysteries. you are to concentrate on these happenings, I usually close my eyes and meditate of the time the pain the sorrow and the joy, its best to do group rosary.
it is best to pray the rosary on a daily basis. there is also the chaplet of divine mercy, which helps as well

The rosery cannot do anything for you at all. It is just another doctrine made up by the catholic church. You want to pray to the Lord, you can pray to Him dirrectly. Jesus does not need a meadeator. That is one of the things accomplished on the cross at calvery.
