Not likely. That book is probably referring to LCD screens which have a flourescent light behind the screen. Flourescents do emit some UV, but look at people who work under them and see if they have dark skin. The answer is no. Now for CRT monitors, you might be interested to know they emit far less UV radiation than LCDs but have significant outputs of x-rays. There is a far greater chance of getting cancer from a CRT monitor than there is of getting any significant UV radiation effects from an LCD panel. Yet, how many cases of cancer due to prolonged exposure to CRTs have you heard of?

It is true that computer screens emit UV radiation but at a very low level. You can purchase screen protector which works really well.

if you're using a CRT likely. once you do not have any glass demonstrate screen then for sure you won't be able to work out some thing because there is not any phosporous layer to react with the EMR transmitted through the visual demonstrate unit. even with the indisputable fact that the quantity of radiation given off through even the most important CRT is negligable.
