You get it by touching anything he might have touched, especially if it's something that touched the infected area. If you live in the same house, most likely you've already caught it. I'd suggest going to see your doctor as soon as possible and doing a thorough cleaning of all items which you guys share. (i.e. washing clothing & combs with hot water)

sounds like you have it, if you have red rings with skin colored middle. Go to a cvs or somewhere like it and buy an over the counter cream meant for treatment for ring worm. DON'T itch them, it will spread all over your body. my son got ring worm from going to school and standing in line with a kid that had it, bum deal. It took a day to get rid of. I had to clean all bedding and every thing else in hot water!! Read up this and fix it.

Ringworm is a contagious fungus infection that can affect the scalp, the body, the feet (athlete's foot), or the nails.
People can get Ringworm from: 1) direct skin-to-skin contact with an infected person or pet, 2) indirect contact with an object or surface that an infected person or pet has touched, or 3) rarely, by contact with soil.
Ringworm can be treated with fungus-killing medicine.
To prevent Ringworm, 1) make sure all infected persons and pets get appropriate treatment, 2) avoid contact with infected persons and pets, 3) do not share personal items, and 4) keep common-use areas clean.

ooh..i used to have ring worm to and what you do, you get the coconut leaves, you know the long and thin one and you go to an expert and then they'll measure how big/size of the ring worm and then it'd start shrinking and then 3 days later, you'll go back to that expert and then it'll be gone. trust me, i did that, i didn't believe at first. if you don't know any experts, you can do it just measure the area of the ring worm. and then yeah, it'll go away after 3 days.

Avoid contact and using a tub after him unless cleaned. The dot fungus Microsporum canis is a frequent offender. Use an antifungal ointment and it will clear.Clortrimazole with Betamethazone is good to clear fungus and stop itching. Rx

well you can try to stay away from your dad + dog if you feel itchy dont worry your self and think you have it too. you might want to go to the doctor for a chek-up or somthing like that. also you should take your vitamins that could keep the worm away from you.

lots of things itch other than ringworm. where is your dads ringworm? he should really go to a doctor if he has it. don't get too close to your dad or share things with him like combs and brushes if its on his scalp or sit where he sits if its on exposed skin. i don't think there are over the counter medications for ringworm -- you need a doctor.
