Well the classical analogy is the blind man and the elephant. Suppose you have an elephant in a room and a bunch of blind people who have been blind from birth. They come into the room and each of them starts to feel the elephant. Some touch an ear, some the trunk, and some the tail and so on. They all disagree about what this huge thing is in the middle of the room.
Personally I don't believe in a creator god, but I'm prepared to accept there might well be entities in existence which are vast and only partially comprehensible to the human mind. Just because we are able to use a word (e.g. god) it doesn't mean we have any real understanding of it. The arrogance of people who claim to know god is utterly astonishing - even in their own world view they are like knew born babies trying to claim understanding of a sage.
Even if there were one religion and for one instant every human being on the planet accepted its views and practices, the very next person to be born would have grasp that truth. Not just as words, but with confidence based on experience. And the next, and the next. Otherwise in a generation or two you would have people just parroting the words of the people who went before, unable to feel the meaning and incapable of true agreement again.

if there was no god, or if there was a million gods, there would never be peace on earth. mankind would always find some reason to kill. i truly wish that mankind would find some reason to love.
imagine theres no heaven,
it's easy if you try
no hell below us
above us only sky
imagine all the people living life in peace....
i hope John Lennon approves of my use of his visionary and insightful words. John is dead, long live John

The proliferation of many religions is due to the stubborness of Men and the need to acquire authority.Peace cannot be found because of one religion, but can only be found if we tolerate each other's existence.Peace is not even found in one family so for such a virtue to exist in religion would require people who think alike, an insurmountable task , in a way. We have to be like the Armish society, man, I just adore them.

many people don't believe in god. and no, everyone believing the same religion would not make peace on earth. as long as this world is over populated with humans there will never be peace on earth.

religions don't start wars people do. look at northern ireland a christian country ravaged by half-wits with slightly different ways of worshipping the same God. So if we had one religion, no religion or the thousands we already have whilst there are people there will be war.

Every one is entitled to their own opinion on everything and religion is no exception. I dont think anyone will agree on one religion as too many people like to argue and point out faults with other people beliefs and thoughts.
I like the explanation in a movie (not going to mention the name as it will probably open a whole other can of worms!) but it said no one religion has got it right yet, its not WHAT you believe, its THAT you believe.

Departure from True Worship After the Flood, Began with Exalting of Nimrod. Gen.10:8-10, "And Cush became father to Nimrod. He made the start in becoming a mighty one in the earth. He displayed himself a mighty hunter in opposition to Jehovah. That is why there is a saying: 'Just like Nimrod a mighty hunter in opposition to Jehovah.' And the beginning of his kingdom came to be Babel and Erech and Accad and Calneh, in the land of Shinar." Gen. 11:4, 9, "They now said: 'Come on! Let us build ourselves a city and also a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a celebrated name for ourselves, for fear we may be scattered over all the surface of the earth.' That is why it name was called Babel, because there Jehovah had confused the language of all the earth, and Jehovah had scattered them from there over all the surface of the earth."

Yes, there is one God but we praise and worship him in many ways, In the book of Revelations it speaks of 7 church's in end times. There is one God and one God only....but it can be in many forms, The Father The Son and the Holy Spirit three in one.
Thanks for asking this question.

No way! People will find something to gripe about. They will say those worshippers are the big nose worshippers and we have small noses you can't pray with us. Everyone has their own connection with God and we as fellow humans need to respect that. Now persecuting others for their believes and getting others to convert forcifliy is wrong.
