They shouldn't get here in the first place. They should stop at the first country that's safe for them. Oh, I forgot, there's no welfare state there.

BtW, assuming they left their countries because they didn't like the government (or religion), why didn't they stay there, get together and do something about it? The words rats and sinking ships come to mind. Remember, there were many French refugees here during the war. They helped to overthrow the dictator and then put their country to rights and went straight back. Most of the asylum seekers who've come here over the years, have no intention of ever going back.

I think some asylum seekers are very genuine and need our help. I once met a guy who's dad was a general in an African country (I've forgotten which one) and the dad opposed the leaders. Every member of his family was then killed by the leaders supporters, leaving only him. I don't know how he got to Britain but I'm glad he did. You'd be surprised to know that his asylum application was rejected the first time and only after appealing did he get to stay in Britain. I think genuine asylum seekers should not be deported, but I do agree that there should be a tightening up of the system, not out of meanness, just because we cant possibly look after an unlimited number of people.

The ones that have had their applications refused, yes, IMMEDIATELY before they do a vanishing act like the hundreds of thousands that already have. The legitimate ones, no. Of course, given that so many have travelled through europe to get to us is a concern given they are supposed to claim asylum in the FIRST country they land in. If they then come to us, that first country should be footing the bill for their social requirements here, but of course that will never happen. Those that are fleeing a brutal regime should not be sent back to that regime, those that just want Britains freebies should be sent packing. Sorry, but we are a small island with limited resources, and there is no such thing as a free lunch.

Not all asylum seekers should be deported but they should dtop taking any more into the UK and if they have failed asylum then they should be put in a holding area and deported ASAP rather than allowing them back to their homes and enabling them to go conveniently missing.

The Criminal ones definently. Why should we have to give them the benefit of our Legal system if they don't respect our laws. They should be sent home where they maybe won't have a criminal record and can get on with their lives. If they do have a criminal record then there's their reason for leaving and they can be extridited. If people are honestly seeking Asylum here they should be given a chance to say why.

If its someone who is fleeing the threat of death or torture fine but there are thousands of illegal and so called economic migrants that we simply cannot support, I've just spent nine days in hospital for the first in my life and nearly all the staff agreed that the NHS is unable to cope with the strain being put on it.

No. Due process is required and there those who have legitimate reasons. I know some who escaped dictators in europe.....they are grateful and work, provide, pay taxes and contribute more than they take.

If they have refused to go to the nearest safe country and instead cherry picked where they would like to live then I say send them back and smile!
