The pheromones that we give off cue our cycles to sync up.

It totally happens. I worked with 24 women and one gay man. One day he commented on how crabby he was....he said he felt like he was "cycling". That's when we found out that all of us had our period within 2 days of each other. My cycle has been very regular, until my daughter started her period. Hers isn't regular and now, I get mine when she does....I'm all messed up and can't make my predictions any more.
I think it's how God made us. I know that sounds weird. Kind of a "survival" thing. In the old Testament, God has many rules about cleanliness, washing, rashes, etc. When a woman was having her period, she was supposed to not be "touched" for a week or something. There is a book called "The Red Tent" that describes this. The women had to go to the "Red Tent" during that time. We were thinking how awesome that would be if we had to be isolated for a week, once a month and just hang out with the girlfriends!

That's not the case. Sometimes we get our periods at the same time when we live together, but that's just because of the statistics.
If there are a bunch of women living together, chances are they'll get their periods around the same time simply because they only have one month to get them and time is crammed, if that made any sense at all.

it's the balance of the world to help whoever the man in the area so that he doesn't have to deal with a PMSing woman every month! and i know for a fact that it happens because my period when i live with my sisters skip days or come earlier at the same time as my sisters but when i'm at school. the time changes again to that of my roomates...it comes earlier or later and after that one adjustment it is very regular that it's predictable!
