Go to your local library and check out some language cd and books. Ask your girlfriend to teach you, she will be flattered by the fact that you are trying to be able to communicate in her language.

The absolutely best book for learning written Tagalog and studying the grammar is "LEARNING TO SPEAK FILIPINO" for Foreigners and Non-Tagalogs by Teresita Suarez-Buensuceso and Jean Tusi Contis. It is a workbook with a green and white cover and contains 178 pages. It is difficult to find, but well worth the effort.
For an good introduction to spoken Tagalog, you could do worse
than to buy or borrow (from a local library) the "TAGALOG/PILIPINO Audio CD Course from Language/30. It will give you basic words and phrases pronounced clearly and correctly.
Your girlfriend, her family, relatives, friends and any other Filipino people you meet will be surprised and pleased with your efforts! Maligayang bati! (Congratulations!)

I agree with the above answer...you have the best teacher in your girlfriend. Also, try hanging out with some of her Filipino/Filipina friends and listen to their conversation (with occasional translation from her). See if you can meet the family and learn their culture and traditions. If you really want to learn the language, then understanding the Filipino ways is very helpful. And don't be discouraged! It takes time and a lot of work to learn a whole different vocabulary, but make it interesting and it'll seem more fun than work. Good luck!

Then you have the perfect person to teach you. I don't understand your question. Does she not speak English? Also you can learn by having her point to things as she is speaking. That's how I am learning Kreyol from my husband. If she speaks to you all the time in Tagalog (and you answer her in Tagalog), you'll learn fairly quickly.

Get your girlfriend to help or take some classes if there are classes available in your area. Learning a foreign language is not easy and nearly impossible online... you're going to have to have real life practice. Books and tapes might help... they also sell CD programs where you can record and listen to your own voice and compare it to a native speaker's.

I'm guessing she doesn't speak English? Take a lesson with her or something.
