Is it just me, or does it drive you crazy when people get in the self-scan line with a cart full of food and have no clue how to use the machine? Are these the same people that get in the 12 items or less line with 30 things?

I have a few:
1) People that have full carts and get in the "Express" line.

2) People that get in the self-scan line and do not know how to use them.

3) People that hold up the line over a less than 25 cent price difference

4) People who are paying with food stamps that stand and argue when told certain things cannot be bought with food stamps, as though they think they are entitled to everything for free

5) Lazy people that leave the shopping carts all over the lot because they are too lazy to walk a few feet to the cart return

Yes. I tried it out when I had a few items and the store was really slow so I would have the chance to take my time. Of course these are the same folks who do more than 2 transactions in the drive up bank line & also aren't bright enough to put all the transactions in the tube at once. Or someone with tons of stuff, and the invarible price check who then decides at the last minute to write a check. It all comes down to common curtesy, which is on a severe decline.

To answer your question my supermarket pet peeve is also when people go to the 12 items or less and they have more then 12 items.

The other pet peeve I have their is when people do not put back their carts where they belong, It is our responsibility to do that not the worker's. After all we are the one's that got the cart's we should be responsible to put them back. Just like when we are at home. When we get something we put it back in it's place.

Or someone with various stuff, and the invarible fee examine who then makes a call on the finest minute to jot down a examine. all of it comes right down to common curtesy, it quite is on a intense decline.

These are, indeed, the exact same people, moving laterally while technology allows the rest of the world to move forward. Fun, innit? As for me, I always seem to be up at the self scan machine when it either a) runs out of receipt paper or b) runs out of $1 bills. So if you're behind me and I'm holding you up.. it's not my fault! It's the machine!! And it's Just my luck.

That does annoy me. I love those self-serve machines, but I have to admit some of them are harder to use than others. I mean I know how to use those machines b.c I use them everytime I go to the grocery store. But sometimes they do screw up and it is their fault. They should put up some instructions. For example the first time my stop and shop card didn't work I learned to just type in the number. If all else fails just type in the code on the stupid machine and it will accept it.

So sometimes I get annoyed with people, but sometimes it is understandable.

Self Scan is not the same as EXPRESS LANE. If it were it be posted. I do not use them with a basket of groceries; however, no where does it say that the self scanning is an express island. check out the signs!

The self-scan machines are not that user friendly and frequently have glitches or do not "capture" when an item is on sale. Therefore, it becomes frustrating for people to use them. So perhaps you could deign to come down off your lofty and imperious tower and help your fellow shopper, instead of regarding them with haughty disdain!

No its not just you, they are idiots, they need to be shot...or they want to self scan 30 items, and they don't dont know how to do it, so someone has to come help them, in the meantime everybody else in the self checkout has to wait for "approval" once the lady gets back

Just remember the first time you used the self scan. It takes a few minutes to figure it out. I am sure you were not always an expert either.
