Where I live, vegetables aren't exactly fresh and are very hard to get. When we do buy vegetables, my family is large, that the vegetables and fruits are gone in the next two days.

So are vitamins a good substitute for vegetables and fruits? If not, any other suggestions?

Frozen fruit and veggies offer about the same nutrients and vitamins as fresh fruits and veggies.

From my understanding, vitamins are not as good as eating the actual foods themselves...you don't get the same benefit. You need the nutrients to come from the foods. I guess your body doesn't absorb the nutrients as well through vitamins.

I know how you feel though. I have five kids and where we live fruits and veggies are outrageously priced and they go through them like crazy....I can't keep them in the house...so I give them multivitamins to make up for what they don't get....

The best I can say is to do what was suggested by another person...do the next best option, buy frozen veggies. You can also buy things like yogurt with fruit....it's a good source of calcium...not sure about how much fruit they really get but it is still very good for them....Try dried fruits and fruit packs that come in those fruit cups...that way you can keep them put away and they can't eat them all up in one day....

Hope that helps....

vitamins are very good in what you need but frozen and canned will be a substitute for fresh.if you are concerned about sodium which canned vegetables sometimes have too much , then eat frozen.. but take vitamins also..

they're not exactly good to substitute the vegetables you should be getting, however if there's no other choice, go ahead, and try getting less fried food or junk food and sodas, that will help keeping a balance...

They really aren't a good substitute. Sorry. Try your best to do both. Periodically, you may want to check my website for good nutrition advice, but the best sources of good nutrition come directly from the Earth. Made by God, not by man.

Vitamins are fine. Your next best choice is Frozen Veggies.

Eh what about fibre. You know those little bottles of veg juice they contain like fifty percent of your fruit and veg intake and are relatively cheap
