"No. It is not Christian." Like all non-Christian cults, the Jehovah's Witness organization distorts the essential doctrines of Christianity. It denies the deity of Christ, His physical resurrection, and salvation by grace. This alone makes it non-Christian. To support its erring doctrines, the Watchtower organization (which is the author and teacher of all official Jehovah's Witness theology), has even altered the Bible to make it agree with its changing and non-Christian teachings.
Typical with cults that use the Bible to support its position is a host of interpretive errors:
* Taking verses out of their immediate context.
* Refusing to read verses in the entire biblical context.
* Inserting their theological presuppositions into the text.
* Altering the Biblical text to suit their needs.
* Latching onto one verse to interpret a host of others.
* Changing the meanings of words.
* Proclaiming some passages to be figurative when they contradict their doctrines.
* Adding to the Word of God.

Absolutely they are Christians they are one of less than a handfull f organizations that follow in Jesus example and teachings in preaching from house to house as Jesus and his Apostles did and as Jesus commanded his followers to do in Matt 24;14 , Matt 28:19,20, 2nd Tim 4:1-5 and they are doing this on a world wide basis in over 235 lands daily they poduce more Bibles and Bible literature thabn all the other religions on earth combined and spend more time educating people about the Bible than all religions combined and then multiply that number by 1,000X they have helped many people in more ways for FREE THAN ANY ONE ELSE they Live by Bible principles 24/7 not just 1 hr a week like some Christianity is a way of life for them they are the absolute epitomy of Christianity a example others should try to live up to and the only people who God chose to call by his name Ps 83:18 OKJV see also Isa 43:10-12 hope this answers your question Gorbalizer

Why not ask Jehovah's Witnesses themselves then you aren't going to get biased answers from people who don't know better.
The definition of a Christian is a person who imitates Jesus Christ and obeys his teachings and commandments.
There are true Christians and false ones (MATTHEW 7:21-23)
The only way we can imitate & follow him is to read the Scriptures.
For example: - he commands his followers to "go and make disciples of all the nations" & to teach them
(MATTHEW 28:19,20)
Are you doing that?
Check the scriptures up & ask yourself whether some of the answers that are from so-called Christians are really Christian-like or not

The Jehovah's Witnesses, Watchtower Tract Society,
has been around a while but it's still a cult.
The central issue that makes them not Christian was settled in the third century AD in the Arian heresy.
They have contributed nothing new.
They have a crude, mistranslated Bible which incorporates their beliefs, including basing much on the English indefinite article which does not exist in the original language. This might be the only contribution they have made to Arianism. But even Arius was not such a fool as to try that weak argument from absence, he was a native Greek speaker.
They are very much tied up in arguments of religious trivia, sabbaths, the 'end-times', consuming blood and the like. But then again, many Fundamentalist Christians fall into this diversion.

The formal name of the religion is actually "Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses". They are Christians.
Sadly, Trinitarians repeatedly pretend that Jehovah's Witnesses are not Christian. Trinitarians use an artificial, trinity-specific definition of the term "Christian" which excludes anyone who does not believe that Jesus is God Himself, rather than the Son of God. Interestingly, pagans in the first century pretended that Christ's followers were Atheists(!) because the Christians had a somewhat different idea from the pagans about the nature of God.
Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe! Both secular dictionaries and disinterested theologians acknowledge that Jehovah's Witnesses are a Christian religion.
The Trinitarian arguments are intended to insult and demean Jehovah's Witnesses, rather than to give a Scripturally accurate understanding of the term "Christian".
In fact, the bible most closely associates being "Christian" with preaching about Christ and Christ's teachings. Review all three times the bible uses the term "Christian" and note that the context connects the term with:
"declaring the good news"
'teaching quite a crowd'
'open eyes, turn from dark to light'
"uttering sayings of truth"
"persuade"
"keep on glorifying"
(Acts 11:20-26) [The early disciples of Jesus] began talking to the Greek-speaking people, declaring the good news of the Lord Jesus... and taught quite a crowd, and it was first in Antioch that the disciples were by divine providence called Christians.
(Acts 26:17-28) [Jesus said to Paul] I am sending you, to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light and from the authority of Satan to God... Paul said: “I am not going mad, Your Excellency Festus, but I am uttering sayings of truth and of soundness of mind. ...Do you, King Agrippa, believe the Prophets? I know you believe.” But Agrippa said to Paul: “In a short time you would persuade me to become a Christian.”
(1 Peter 4:14-16) If you are being reproached for the name of Christ, you are happy... But if he suffers as a Christian, let him not feel shame, but let him keep on glorifying God in this name
So why do anti-Witnesses try to hijack the term "Christian" and hide its Scriptural implications? Because anti-Witnesses recognize that it is the preaching work that makes it clear that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are by far the most prominent followers of Christ:
(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded

Yes. The name "Jehovah's Witnesses" is indicated by God. Isaiah 43:10-12, "You are my witnesses," is the utterance of Jehovah, "even my servant whom I have chosen, in order that you may know and have faith in me, and that you may understand that I am the same One. Before me there was no God formed, and after me there continued to be done. I--I am Jehovah, and besides me there is no savior." "I myself have told forth and have saved and have caused [it] to be heard, when there was among you no strange [god]. So you are my witnesses," is the utterance of Jehovah, "and I am God." Jesus Christ is the Chief Witness of Jehovah. Rev1:5, "Jesus Christ, 'the Faithful Witness.' " Rev.3:14, "These are the things that the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God."

You should ask them or an ex-witness. Jesus had mentioned about the Hosts and the Great Hosts. They are not the only ones who believe that Jesus had a guardian spirit with him like Michael the Arch Angel.Remember when he was crucified and had asked why they had abandoned him? There are many religions that have some element of truth to them. Keep an open mind and one eye brow raised.

i'm one of Jehovah's witnesses and i most definately consider myself to be a christian. we believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God and our saviour who died for our sins but was raised up to life again and has become the king of kings and lord of lords.however we do not believe that he is part of a triune godhead or that he is almighty God.
i realize that this question may be a set up , which is a pity. we are the only religion imitating Jesus in preaching the good news of the kingdom matt 24;14 . we are entirely peaceful and dont believe in going to war ( many witnesses died in concentration camps in germany in the 2nd world war because they refused millitary service ) we are multi racial and teach people to try to love God and fellow man . our message is a christian message . we do have what is called a governing body who direct our preaching work world wide but again this is only an imitation of the christian organization of the 1st century ie; the apostles who directed the preaching work back then (acts 15 ).
i can tell you something else too - i was not brought up as a witness but can honestly say that this people genuinely tries to seek the truth as is found in the bible .
fortunately God will be the judge of us all not the many people on here who will no doubt harshly criticize us.

Of course they are christian! They believe that Jesus is the son of God like the bible says. They also believe that the bible should be followed 100% instead of just taking bits out that suit them. I think that they are the only religion to preach the good news of Gods Kingdom as Jesus directed and as was prophesied in the gospels as a sign for the last days.

They're a cult offshoot of christianity. Usually made up of those people who believe whatever they're told without question.
To eliminate the cult, all that's necessary is to get hold of the (I believe now) 5 different editions of their bible and mark up the changes. Since they're so careful to tell you that not a single word of the bible can ever change, once they're shown it in print, assuming that they can read, they'll have to concede that something is wrong somewhere. If I remember correctly, their founder spent some time in a lunatic asylum. Sounds like the right place for most of them. Certainly the statistics show a far higher rate of psychiatric dieturbances among this group than in any other similar group.
