I'm so sorry for your loss! My mom had three puppies in a liter drown once, and it was one of the worst things that she remembers happening to her. Please don't feel like it's your fault, if you had known what would have happened I know you wouldn't have left your puppy outside. My mom still remembers those three puppies and its been a long time, but she knows that it was an accident and its nothing she can change. You are in my prayers.

I'm very sorry for your loss. BUT, how could you not protect your puppy? As someone else mentioned, kids drown in pools all the time. Did you not think a puppy could drown? They're like little kids. They don't understand what dangerous means. When you get a puppy, you are responsible for a living thing. Your puppy trusted you with his life, and you failed him. I'm not trying to be nasty, as I said I'm sorry you went through this. But it's common sense to not leave a dog unattended around a pool, just as you wouldn't leave a baby or a small child alone by a pool. When and if you get another puppy, please don't EVER leave it unattended unless it is safely in a crate where it can't get into things that can hurt it.

I had a puppy that died, but it was not as painful as in your case. The ***** gave birth to 5 puppies, and the runt was not strong enough to even suck on the *****, so we had to be expressing milk and feeding the puppy. He died the next day. It was still very painful, but we only knew the pup for a day while yours was 7 months.

Sorry about it.

I've not had one that age die, but one just newborn died in my hand when I was just a child. My father didn't think it would make it, but gave me permission to try to feed it with a doll bottle. It seemed to try to nurse briefly, but it just gave up. There I was, maybe seven years old, holding a dead puppy. That was an experience I have obviously never forgotten.

The other one was about six months old, and she got ringworm or something and my husband didn't know what to do and I said take her to a vet, and he procrastinated (I didn't drive a car myself, or I would have defied him to take her myself), and by the time he got around to it, she was too sick, and the vet put her down.

I left that husband not long after, but that dog was only one of the reasons.

yes...but my puppy died of a disease. the disease was like eating up inside or something... they had to put him to sleep. he was the sweetest little thing. But like when i was really little we left a little our little puppy at a friends house to watch, and he left the leash on and it got tangled and the dog got strangled by the leash. anyway i hope you feel better about losing your dog, sadly those types of things happen a lot.

lost on during birth and one at one week old. he was my favorite! don't blame yourself!! most puppies would stay away from some thing like that! how could you know it would happen!! you may consider getting a nother companion to help fill the void. but only when you are ready. it relay helps. i wish you the best!!!

Well, my uncle left his pregnant pomerainian at his house for a couple of minutes and she went into labor while he was gone and they both died. One was black and one was red.
