well your saying does not say toast always lands butter side down, so that means the cat will still land on it's feet cause it overrides the toast theory. it's quite simple.
and the cat will more than likely be licking the butter off it's back to fall from anywhere.

Never ever ever butter your cat ... margarine works sooo much better.
Margarining the back of your cat pretty much ensures your couch will get pretty nasty... and your bed, too.
Perhaps you could take up a more traditional hobby?
