At my local supermarket, the price of a packet of two chicken breasts, from which chicken supreme is made, is not much less than that of a whole chicken.

It follows that chiippys etc. can offer meals made out of meat anywhere from the chicken, or chicken legs, much more competitively than if they offer chicken supremes. And most people at chippys don't want the most expensive chicken.

If you want chicken supreme, I suggest you buy a whole chicken (or chickens if you are a family) and use the breasts to make chicken surpeme, for which you will find many recipes. Then you can have a less grand meal out of the wings and thighs and soup from boiling up the carcass. But usually I would roast and carve the chicken, which is easier, before making soup.

I am not a vegetatian but I believe we have a duty to eat ethically reared chicken (which in any case tastes much better). I also believe that we have a duty to respect the bird by using its meat fully and economically.
