Besides Canada, since it is pretty different country from the U.S.. is America still friendly place for its citizens and the world?

Do you feel the Americans are still warm and polite, and generous like they used to be?

If there is (are) something you feel comfortable/ uncomfortable about dealing with the Americans, what is it?

I think most of them still are.
But the most of today is smaller than the most of earlier.

The US is generally a friendly place and its citizen is quite amicable in accepting all visitors and immigrants of all culture and religion. The current hostile rhetoric against foreigners is a result of the negative impact and massive influx of illegal migration. This country is still respectful for the illegal immigrants that they can stay freely and protected by law. The very same law that they have no respect for in the first place. If citizens or legal residents are expected a lawful conduct, illegal immigrants must not be granted a privilege to break the law in any means.

We are warm and friendly, as long as we are not being threatened and ridiculed. The U.S. has stood up for other countries as well as our own. We have lost many of our men and women throughout the years trying to protect other countries as well as our own. We are having to take a lot of criticism, but this isn't the first time that our country has been through a war. If you want to get along in America, it isn't a difficult place to be, unless you come with your criticism, in that case, it would probably be better for you to stay home.

America is great. People are nice and generous, just like the people in places like Denmark are. No one is rude and would help you out if you asked. Don't be shy and come to the greatest country on earth. I enjoy it here, of course I am an American, so I may be stuck up about it.

America is made up of alot of different ethnic and religious backgrounds, this is a strength as well as a weakness. Just some parts of America might not be as accepting to different people, some parts are. Where I live at , it is mostly white Americns, that are decendants of families that have been here for houndreds of years, but we have blacks, hispanics, and asians in the mix. No real racial tension, alot of us work right along side of them.

A story from my household , I have a daughter that is part Asian, and we were watching a show about the geades sisters (,http://abcnews.go.com/Primetime/story?id=2449483&page=1&CMP=OTC-RSSFeeds0312), she asked my wife if she could go to one of their concerts since she was half white, she then asked why we were laughing at her, and I said " yah, but only half of you would be allowed to come back." . She had no idea what racism was, she never had to face discrimination because of her ethnic background.

I belive white people for the most part are not the real racist in this country, we are more scared of being accused of being racist, and the ones that are quick to point fingers and blame are in turn the ones that are putting embers on the fire.

DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE DONE UNTO YOU. Yes, we're friendly here, but I'll tell you what, we aren't taking any body's CRAP. We as Americans, that work hard and pay taxes are just tired of being taken advantage of. This sh** gets old after awhile. There's only so much a person or people can take. Come on, that's anywhere. Obey the rules, learn to SPEAK PROPER ENGLISH, PAY YOUR TAXES, I'm okay with that.

Was America EVER truly a friendly place? It seems that throughout all of American history, one group or another was being oppressed or discriminated against.

I think it depends on the individual. I don't think a groundswell of resentment at being taken advantage of for years regarding illegal immigration translates to dealings with people legally here. I think friendly people are friendly, unfriendly people, not so much.

I agree with what Mo said, except that I would also add that we don't also say, "Please come on in here and we'll put your children through school (elementary, high school, college and university) for free, while our own citizens have to work and slave, scrimp and pinch to put their children through school."

Yeah, we're friendly to tourists, students on visa who are WORKING their way through school like most of us have to do, naturalized citizens and others who obtain or who are in the process of obtaining legal citizenship, but WE DO NOT LIKE ILLEGALS. I imagine it would be the same for any country, though. It's not like the US should be singled out and pointed out as "meanies" in that regard.
