12.
JFK is going bye bye. And the Bush CVN 77 was only launched yesterday. It won't be in commision till'08. Kitty Hawk is home ported in Japan. Kitty Hawk will next to go some time after that.
In general the CV's are split beween east & west coast.

The correct answer is not enough.

We have 13 flat tops with the JFK about to be decommissioned. In today's world wide threat of terrorist attacks against the US we need sufficient naval weapons platforms to provide "force projection" to retaliate, deter and reach potential targets with sufficient fire power these super class carriers and the estimated 80-90 aircraft provide.

And yes, I would like to see the cost of building these warships spent on medical care, housing assistance, feeding the poor, etc. But without the ability to project our military power around the globe and defend our way of life short of nuclear weapons how long do you think our freedoms and way of life would remain intact?

in case you will tell me the place you reside i could have an Israeli answer your question. I as quickly as met an Israeli on an plane and he became a no longer common SOB and that i does no longer p.c. to get right into a controversy with him. you do no longer look to be conscious that we do very various business enterprise with Israel. Israeli engineers, in fact, invented Microsoft XP utility. in addition they manufacture specific militia grade laptop chips for us and much extra. they want us yet we want them as properly. it rather is an extremely sturdy dating and we've a say of their international activities. for the period of the 1st invasion of Iraq Saddam released various missiles into Israel. Israel did no longer retaliate besides the undeniable fact that they'd have. We informed them to no longer. Their retaliation would have screwed up the alliance that Bush had placed such as various Arab international places and would have affected the outcomes of the conflict. They listened to us.
