X-Ray only will tell-but if it is a small toe just strap to the other good toe when less painful and that it will knit it back.

Typically if it's swollen and turns immediately bruised, you've likely broken it.
If you can't move it, then you could have torn supporting connective tissue. With a broken bone, you can still move it. It's the connective tissue (muscle, tendons, ligaments) that cause something to move, not the bone. So, a broken bone can still move...not a great idea, but it can.
If it is broken, and isn't a compound (bone jutting through the skin) or down the length of the bone, then they'll just tape it to the next toes to give it support.
In the interim, I'd elevate it, stay off it, ice it, and take Tylenol for the pain. If you have to get on your feet....tape the toes together, and put on a compression bandage (ACE wrap).
I broke my toe recently, and just taped it to the ones on either side. Since it took about 8 weeks to stop hurting, I'm fairly sure it was a break. (*shrug*) Didn't go to the doctor, but then it's not like it's the first time...and probably won't be the last.

Does it move? If it's a really bad break it won't move at all (even though it's probably painful to move it). Toes aren't usually treated even when broken, unless a compound fracture (bone through skin), but I've never heard of that. They usually just tape them together until healed. IF anything else is wrong, or you really want to know, go to urgent care or ER. I have had many broken toes. The only time they did anything was when my last two toes were broken and stuck completely out to one side! They had to re break them to set them properly, then they just taped them up and sent me home. They did this without pain killers, it wasn't that bad, the sound was the worst part. It was sick.

Well, even if you really did break your toe, there is nothing a doctor would be able to do for you anyway. A doctor cannot make a splint or anything to help it heal better. I had broke my toe once and there was nothing they could do for me. The best thing to do is not to put too much work on it and make sure you are bending it well once it starts healing so it won't heal funny. For now I would just strap it to another toe for some support and make sure it doesn't heal leaning to the left or anything. My finace didn't listen to me and didn't work his toe once it was healing and now it looks all funky! lol Just some advice from personal experince. Hope your toe feels better!

with out an X-ray, and different than it particularly is for particular crooked or has a bone protruding, you is only not waiting to tell. It probably is a bad sprain and bruise, and it hurts like the dickens!! scientific docs do not located casts on broken feet. If a bone is out, they're going to do surgical treatment to place it decrease back in. If it particularly is crooked, they're going to straighten it out and tape it to the toe next to it. they do only not located plenty fee on feet -- lol! attempt to spice up your foot between now and Monday, and take an anti inflammatory which comprise Motrin. do not located on footwear each and every time a threat, and don't located on any that cramp your feet. you are able to tape it to the toe next to it to artwork out if it makes it experience extra desirable valuable. i'm making a guess it is going to start up up feeling extra desirable valuable over the weekend, as long as you do not stub it decrease back... OUCH!!!! stable success...
