It was a 16 year old NSF cheque, I didn't write,my ex did, but joint account. I was questioned, no rights were read to me.

no I'm not an idiot..why would you say that! I just wanted to know what the rules where.Actually the US Superior Court was very fair. They dismissed the case. That was good enough for me.
