Sure they do. They make tears all the time just like we do, to keep their eyes wet & clean.

They just don't use them to express their emotions the same, athough some cats do leak tears when upset, they don't cry tears when they are sad or depressed.

Not crying in the sense that we cry but they have runny eyes if they have an eye problem or herpes they can really run and also Persians have dewey eyes because of their pushed in respiratory systems their eyes can water down and stain their cheeks. Also when my cat goes out into windy weather he can come in with a slight trickle in his eyes which I rather he not be out in the wind. I would say if your cat has runny eyes for a day or so and it stays that way it means something is bothering your cat such as an allergy from winds or in your house...or...he is getting an eye infection too......shirgy

My cat's eyes well up from time to time. Its hard to define his sadness or plausible emotion at any given time, because, he's acat and he hasnt figured out the english language yet, but i think ive caught my cat crying here and there. Hes a tough guy though, so he'd never admit it.

Every mammal has tear ducts that secrete "tears" to help keep the eye moist.

I don't think cats weep, though;)
