My recommendation is to risk the friendship and tell her how you feel.
I was madly in love with someone who was one of my best friends, I never told that person about my feelings, she started seeing someone else who didn't like her hanging around with me and they moved away together. So I wasn't left with anything, a girlfriend or a friend.
Meanwhile I had a friend who I told I had strong feelings for and she did too, we dated for a while then had a messy break up. But after a few months we started being friends again and now we are best of friends.
Don't risk losing this person from you life without telling her how you feel, you might drift away as friends and always wonder, what if?
