if it's still in freezer and not thrown out, it could still be good.

It should be alright, I've used chicken that was in the freezer for awhile and it was fine.
Usually if it's frozen it is preserved and is still good.
That's awsome of you to do that for your parents, they'll be very happy you did such a nice thing.
So yeah it'll be fine to use.
Have a great dinner : )

Check to see if there are tons of ice crystals on it. It might be freezer burnt. Still ok though. Then check the texture, if it looks dehydrated and rubbery, not so nice for taste, but still OK.

Thaw it out. If it looks white and dry, its probably too old. If it still looks like raw chicken (pink) it is probably okay. Check for a lsell by date. If it's before 2006, I wouldn't use it.

the main rule for food safety " IS WHEN IN DOLT THROW IT OUT." It is not worth eating a unsafe $6.00 chicken for the cost of a doctor and the emergchey room cost $6,000.00

Put it in the mirowave on defrost, if it smells ok it should be ok. skin it first cut into smaller pieces, dip it good in orange juice, then flour , then. fry ,great. Makes it's own skin, Good Luck (no egg)
