You don't need to do anything once you are married but, as others have pointed out, the paperwork and bureaucracy involved may be horrendous! Love conquers all, as they say.
Once married, she will be legally entitled to share your citizenship, get a Green Card and an SS# and work in the US. She may then apply, if she wishes, for full citizenship and a US passport (but she doesn't have to). I think you would conversely be able to apply for British nationality. Any children would be entitled to dual nationality.
If you want her over before you are married, then she needs to apply for a Fiance Visa but you will have to get married within 90 days of her being in the US. In order to qualify for a Fiance Visa, you must have evidence (photographic and, perhaps, witnessed) that you have already met in person.

Your fiance will have to go to the nearest British embassy. If she is in the south of England, she will have to go to Grosvenor Square in London.
I must warn you acquiring the visa is a lengthy process even for just a fiance visa. She will most likely have to go to Grosvenor Square several times and wait in long lines for ages on end so get there early.
I am British and married my American husband some thirty years ago. It took about nine months for everything to finally be cleared. It seemed every time you go to the embassy they always require something else they did not tell you about last time you were there. A very frustrating process indeed. My husband, fiance at the time finally contacted a state senator and he personally got in touch with the British embassy and then I was finally cleared. I have heard other similar stories such as my own, so be prepared. She will eventually get her visa and then you will have to marry within the ninety days. After that she can then go to your state capital and apply for her green card, which will entitle her to all the same benefits as American citizens. Good luck to you both. Just be prepared that it is somewhat of a lengthy process.

First of all, don't listen to the people who are telling you just to get married and thats it. Unfortunately it doesnt work like that anymore. I am Canadian and I just married an American four months ago. There was almost a year of paperwork before the wedding and more after. There is LOTS of paperwork involved and it isnt cheap. There is alot you have to do, but it is important that you do it right so that you wont have any problems. I would recommend that you consider hiring an immigration lawyer so that you make sure that everything is done right. Doing it right is worth it. I got my permanent residence card two years ahead of time...they waived alot of stuff. Good luck and congratulations

Start with the I 130 or K3 visa. uscis.gov you can download all the forms. Make sure she does not leave the US! I made that mistake and am now stuck in Canada until I get approved.

Contact an immigration lawyer and ask. You can also search online. I always find it odd when people go on some forum web site to get answers to questions when they can get more accurate answers by actually doing the research themselves.
