always argue so much? They always seem to want to prove that they are correct about certain issues. Is it their way of proving to themselves that they are smart?

Maybe they get corrected and challenged so much, the become irritable. I believe that they would come across as defensive and confrontational. Everyone wants their opinion to be accepted at some time. We wouldn't be on this site if it wasn't true.

Intelligent people also want to prove that they're correct about certain issues, and yes I think it's their way of proving to themselves that they are smart. Anyway, I think everyone is smart in their own way.

I live beside schoolteachers who never stop arguing with each other and the "less educated neighbours".They are obnoxiuus and never wrong of course.Education has nothing to do with intelligence. Manners and respect for other peoples opinions are learnt in the university of life

Arguing is not reserved for uneducated people. Have you ever heard of "Lawyers"? Did you go to a school that had debate teams? These are not typically dumb people, but actually very intelligent. Now there are those that just like to argue for the sake of argument, don't know why, they just do! Some people just like to be heard.

Socrates said it best "the only true knowledge is knowing that you know nothing". Also I just read that (in the Daili Lama's book) unless you are able to understand what you don't know, you are incapable of learning. However, ignorance is easier to defend as it is baseless in fact and only in emotion.

But you also need to be open to the fact that Just because you disagree does not mean they are uneducated or dumb. Sometimes ignorant, other itmes they just have been raised differently and have different values. I don't agree with globalization, but the person who came up with it was not dumb. If you underestimate your opponents, and think they are dumb, you will never defeat them.

Arguing is not just for those that are lacking in the intelligence department, lawyers, politicians, debate teams, and married couples argue all the time! You do not have to be smart, or stupid, anyone can argue!

hah yea i noticed that too, but its funny cause their arguments sound even dumb because they do not have any prove to back it up, or they do but its not legitimate
