You are correct that Hispanics and Latinos are caucasian, but ethnic discrimination is just as real and hurtful as racism. Why quibble over words when the problem is the same.

Forget about your complexes. I'm a proud Peruvian and I don't feel any kind of racism even I'm living in Europe.
And use this service to make questions... ask for opinions... or find other person making a question that could be answered with your comments.
Reacting like that... you will get more enemies than allies and of course if you are an immigrant more people will think that you are still not adapted to the new culture that hosts you... and they will ask: If they are so unhappy here... why they don't return to their country?
Even I disagree with you I understand your point. I think some countries abuse their power against immigrants... but in that case there are always many countries where people could find better opportunities and future.

Well...oddly enough I'm with you to a certain extent.
I think that having the term latino labeled as a race is very slippery an issue and kind of unacceptable.
Hispanic(latino)is a GENERIC name meant to identify people of Hispanic descent in terms of census classifications
Most of us are mestizos(mixed),not caucasian.Let me introduce you to these terms in Latin America's classifications: Mulattoes,Zambos(Mixed of Black, Native and White);Mestizos: (Mixed of Native Indios and White);Natives;.Blacks;Whites.
I don't like the term Latino(as a race) ,but I can relate to a great heterogeneous cultural/intercultural phenomenon and it's a basic right to cherish your roots. The magic and singularity in diversity of America Latina. And this term/word is generally accepted, whatever, and in the USA I fit into this category.

Hey,don't you join the minutemen!Racism is more and more versatile a concept...

It doesn't have to do with racism at all. It has to do with nationalism and economic fear. People are against immigration because they think they will lose their jobs because of it. Everything comes back to economics.
I'm not saying we should open our boarders to everyone if we did we'd be the UK or Canada.

We can go round and round and round on this subject. The point is that we need to get our noses out of other countries business. Get our people back from overseas and put them to good use. And hold others on this globe responsible for their own people. You don't take care of your people and treat them with respect, then we won't buy or sell anything to you. Plain and simple. Mexico and it's southern neighbors don't take care of their own, then we won't take our money to Cancun, Vera Cruz, Cozumel, or Costa Rica. Make you voice herd don't go drinking and partying in Mex this Spring Break. Keep your money in the US. Have fun without the beer. We have plenty of coastline to enjoy.

If i had a dollar for every time i have tried to explain that to people,i could retire.Hispanic is a ethnicity not a race.
I guess ethnocentric is too hard for those cry babies to say.If they are going to call people names, they should at least get the terminology right.
