true enough that all heavy champs are from the old soviet block, and the second best fighter comes from wales, the italian lion, joe calzage, but we have the best fighter floyd mayweather, and we get large pay per view numbers.
boxing is far from dead, i train kids, and was a usa golden gloves champ. the more kids i train the more fighters there will be.
my friend angelo dundee, told me that we import the worlds great fighters to show their wares here. this country, has the most fight fans than any other country.

Mustache Man ~
In my opinion, MMA will never take over boxing. I'm a huge fan of Pride, UFC and all the other MMA organizations, I myself got my Black Belt in BJJ in part thanks to Jens Pulver.
There's two very distinct reasons why MMA will never take over boxing. Reason 1) The fighters don't make enough money considering the risk. They train hard and put their lives on the line everytime they step into the cage or ring. The promoters of the fights are the only ones making any money, Dana White President of the UFC puts a PPV event on at least once every month at $50 a pop and he's getting $1,000 a seat for ringside seats and a Champion fighter only gets $50,000 a fight and that's the heavyweights. You do the math.
Reason 2) There will be a death in MMA and it will be banned. Senator John McCain has already went on record stating "He's trying now, before any death does occurs, to ban this human co**fighting" and MMA fights are not allowed in all 50 states. Anytime a person gets punched, kicked and elbowed to the head there is a chance of death. MMA can have all the rules and regulations they want, but it's not going to stop a death from happening. For those MMA fans you site in boxing there's a greater chance of death because the fights last a lot longer, I say to you FALSE, Max Baer once killed another fighter with just two punches and that was with 10 ounce gloves on in MMA they use 4 ounce fingerless gloves.

mma and ufc seem to have stolen the spotlight at present.
I myself am a pro kickboxer and world champion. I used to box as an am, but never went far. I kept running out of steam with only 2 weapons. I have been offered so much more money in UFC and MMA than boxing. Boxing will never die and will always be with us. Fighters like myself will not last long due to the massive injuries you get in UFC and MMA so in theory boxing will always pervail.
In Australia MMA and UFC is very small but boxing is still huge. I think it depends on the crowds it draws at these gatherings.

Boxing will never die, but MMA is here to stay.
MMA fighters are legitimate bada***s and have handed top flight boxers, like Shannon Briggs and Francois Botha, their a***s.
