What solutions do you see to the problem of getting our troops out and not leaving Iraq in a state of turmoil for years to come? Thanks by the way.

Although my spouse and myself are both Iraq vets I don't think 'stay the course' is anything but rhetoric, a non-answer.
The only real chance of a SMALL bit of success is to divide Iraq into three states(Sunni,Shiite, and Kurd) and give them each an equal vote. Yes, this will probably lead to a (larger) civil war. However 'staying the course' is doing this already. If nothing else it will allow us to withdraw and claim victory before the whole shithouse goes up in flames. Not a perfect solution, but a solution nonetheless. Dem or Republican bashing gets us nowhere.

Unfortunately, there is no military solution and it's just a matter of time that we'll have to accept the inevitable and withdraw just as we did in Viet Nam. Just as there was in Viet Nam, it will be a blood bath after we leave, no doubt about it. Our country has not learned that if you tie the hands of the military and put them in harms way, there is no possible way to win. I'm sorry our young soldiers have to keep dying because of politicians, but it will keep happening as long as we care more about enemy casualties than we do are own. That is a no win situation right out of the gate. War is not a humanitarian mission while you are trying to defeat a dedicated enemy.

We need to ask the UN for help in cleaning up the mess we made, after all other countries can make messes and the UN will come in and clean it up for them. Otherwise we just have another Vietnam on our hands. Perhaps we just need another Nixon in office. If you are a voter, vote for no one presently in office. This will send a message to congress as well as the rest of the world that the people are still in charge in the United States and democracy does work. Then we need to work on building our country into the power it once was instead of trying to police the entire world. Strengthen ourselves and build our fortress strong against attack. Perhaps if we concentrate our efforts here, people in other countries won't hate us because of our intrusions. Then maybe Americans will start having faith in their government again, because the government takes care of Americans and America first! I personally am tired of our government going out of our way to help those who clearly hate us for doing it. God helps those who help themselves, have we really helped ourselves. New Orleans is a good example if you think that is the case!

My son has served two tours there and can't wait to go serve another one. He loves the help we are doing for the people there.

He says we are buidling hospitals, schools, and so much more.

His opinion and those of the ones he serves with is stay till the job is done.
