That after Katrina it was Christian groups that were first on the spot with food, shelter and medical aid. Where were all the atheist and Islamic groups?

Maybe those other groups need to take the beam out of their own eye, so they can remove the splinter in their brother's eye.

angk,

if true, then good for you. My church will accept help from anyone. They give help to anyone, I was just getting tired of all the bashers on here spitting on Christians.

fiveshift, what about Maureen Ohair's group? They are still around and the ones who really started all the hate for Christains in this country. Guess her stealing from herself and getting whacked by her own members didn't help the cause huh?

I fully understand the mentality behind your question. However, as a christian who has asked similar questions, I will say that even though I am glad that lots of christians went down and helped, I can understand where "other" groups say that we are trying to be proud of it and rub it in peoples faces. unfortunaly questions such as this get taken that way by a lot of people. I know thats not what you meant in asking this question. Good luck and God bless.

The word 'bad' is bad in a sincerely asked question. Christians are good people. It is their Governments' actions which raise eyebrows about the religion they are assumed to represent. And when they succeed in preaching the religion, they instantly demand acceptance of their culture in far off lands. It is the incidents like this that makes Christianity as the rivals to other religions... in fact to other cultures. Then the Christianity in the West has taken itself very far from its rootes in the lands around Jerusalem. Their insistence on translating even the names in old texts is another concern. Many in the West are allergic to the Name: Allah, whereas it is the only Glorious name in the Arabic Bible, where all the names are close or similar to the names invoked by mylord Jesus. Kindly give a consideration to the thoughts expressed herein.

Umm, actually, after Katrina it was the mega-churches here in Houston that offered first help. We sent buses to retrieve the victims from the Superdome, we housed them and fed them and gave them clothes and money and a place to stay here.

Walmart was the next to help, besides the government. If you were a Katrina victim housed here in Houston, you were given a gift card (paid for by individuals wanting to help) to go and get what you needed from Walmart. They also sent lots of clothes and personal items to the Astrodome to help.

And why? Because we in Houston (not just the faithful) are of a generous nature and that's what we do for our fellow state.

It's not Christians who are bad-not the REAL Christians. It's the so-called christians, the ones that preach hatred against anyone different from them.
And I didn't think religion had anything to do with the aid that was offered after Katrina, I thought that maybe there were still some good people in this world after all.

I don't think that Christians as a whole are necessarily bad... However, you're statement seems to overlook the fact that one atheistic group did offer to lend a vast amount of help: The Government of Cuba.

Also, muslim groups are constantly helping with disaster relief, look at this: http://www.lifeusa.org/site/PageServer?pagename=a_hornofafrica01

Christians giving aid is great, but they are by no means the only people who give aid.

Why is it then, if christians are so good, then why do they hate gay people so much and try playing god all the time by putting their own beliefs all over everyone? Christians are some of the most judgmental, self-righteous, bigoted people I have ever met. They play god by forcing others to follow their beliefs, whether it is in the form of pro-life, anti-gays, calling Harry Potter satanic... People see the good in the help of the churches, but it still doesn't enshroud the hate, bigotry and ignorance that is spoon-fed to their children amongst the sheep-herded religious population.

thanks for pointing that out meow.

also look at the history of attacks on the religious institutions, if one is to allegedly flush the qua'ran down the toilet, then people are going to die, but when the Muslims went into the catholic church , used the bible as toilet paper, and did ungodly things to the alter, the worst we did was pray for them.

glad to see were the bad guys

Well, actually, I was there with a church group. I've been there several times over the past year, actually. And I'm way worse than your standard, run-of-the-mill atheist, I'm a dirty occultist too! It was nice to go with a church that didn't care about my religion, only my desire to help.

Uh, because this nation is 90% Christian. Because the Christians made a point of getting their efforts highlighted on the news. Because those Christians you refer to are media savvy.

No one said Christians were bad. Some Christians are bad. Unfortunately, the bad Christians are media and politically savvy and sophisticated and are hell bent on control.
