also he snores really loudly but he says i'm imagining it. i have to sleep in another room (after we've had sex) but he takes this as a personal insult/rejection. i don't think he wants to give up smoking

Sneak out to his best mates bed and sleep there. That's assuming he doesn't snore too. Does he?

If he snores that loudly, he may have a sleeping disorder. Does he stop breathing for a few seconds, then take a big breath? That would be sleep apnea. But even if he doesnt but is just loud, it could still be a disorder.

Firstly, stop smoking would be a good start. Also is your boyfriend heavy? If he is heavy his weight could be a causing the snoring problem as well.

Wearing ear plugs is the least line of causing upsets, and try to get to sleep before he does.

If it is like a pig sound push him out of bed LOL

The cigs will kill him. The snoring could be a disorder or a condition of too many cigs too.
Tell him he needs to get his act together.
