When you read up on electromagnetic fields (cell phones, overhead
wires, waterbed heaters, microwaves) you read everything from the
bizarre to the common 'we dont really know' of how/if the human body is
affected by these. It does seem however that many small studies against
such products gets crushed or gagged and you dont ever hear anything on
the topic again. Always makes me wonder if there is more to it than
'they' let you know. 90% of todays homes have a microwave - would we
all throw them out if they told us they were bad for us? Probably not,
but it would make me think twice about using it for more than reheating
a cup of coffee.
Interesting but not a science journal:

No, miucrowaves are containe within the unit. The little holes you see in the glass are actually preventing the frequency in the enclosure. You will know if there is a leak as your cat will lose all it's hair...NOT REALLY! you may see reduced heating or sparks...Spark are telling you that the wave has hit something and it richochet's and collides with a bunch of other microwaves. kinda like a blow out at 70 MPH

No. The ovens are designed so that radiation can't escape from them. They are all metal except for the glass door and if you look closely at that door you will see it has a perforated metal screen on the inside. That is part of the requirements for selling one - that it pass the low-radiation test. You should also notice that when you open the door the oven shuts off so no radiation can come out.

Not at all--just make sure the door is closed. Of course, the light inside the microwave could get on your nerves, so don't stare directly at that.

My boyfriend goes into the next room whenever it is on. He believes the radiation waves can attack your brain: over time doing much noticable harm. But did you know the same danger is said about cellphones ?
