Nah, don't ask if she's busy because that kind of makes it seem like you're just sitting around waiting for her to have some time for you. Just say "Hey what are you doing Friday (whatever night) night?" and if she says she's gonna go do something then take the conversation from there. If she says she's not doing anything then say something like "I was thinking about going to see this movie (or whatever you want to ask her to join you with), do you want to come too?" Something along the lines of that. Good luck.

it's better to just ask her out
have an alternative night ready if she says she's busy.
if that night is also busy you should gracefully leave the invitation open and back off a little.
otherwise just be friendly and enjoy the conversation.
the reason for that is you don't want to look like you are prying into her timetable, and also to give her the chance to refuse the date if she doesn't like the place you have in mind.

No.............you tell her that you would like to try out a new place and would like it if she would join you. If she says yes then you tell her you were thinking of going on "x" nite. If she says shes booked up that nite tell her thats ok and maybe you could get together another time. Leave it at that! If she re-thinks her answer and changes her plans to go with you so be it..............if she cant change her plans you ask her in a few days if she would like to go another nite. She will have an open date if you have to ask her a second time. Dont beg.......women hate the begging routine! Really we do!

When you ask someone if they are busy it sort of puts them on the spot. If they say NO.........its sort of like their life is mundane and they have nothing else to do.............if they say yes.........well then that shuts YOU down for that particular time.

Good luck
