I saw a program a few years ago and a man who never had sight was given sight - I can't recall what his problem was but obviously it was solvable. He had never seen his wife's face, nor those of his kids. After he gained his sight, the reporter took him out and about and pointed out things this man was used to handling and feeling and were a part of his every day life. He was asked about one item and it bogled him, had no idea what it was just by sight and then he was told it was a can of Coke.

Without having sight, people blind from birth have no conceptual notion of what the shape, size, colour, etc., of anything is - based on sight - so have no basis for visual dreams, however, there may be light and colour but no actual scenery as you and I may know it. Imagine a haze of rainbow colours or a haze of light.

Any translation by the brain of the physical item and its supposed visual appearance is, at this time, beyond our comprehension and, I think, difficult for a blind person to explain to us.

I watched a documentary that mentioned this. Blind people who were born blind cannot see in their dreams, and just hear. Blind people who were born with eyesight and went blind later in life can see in their dreams, at least some of the time.
