I will be babysitting a 1 year old soon. I can't decide how much to charge. I will be watching her for 11.5 hours every week and sometimes 19.5 hours because she works an extra day sometimes. I wanted to either charge hourly or give a set amount for every week with an additional amount for the extra eight hours. What would be a good price?

Also, we live in the Kansas City area and it is $185/week for 45 hours in a daycare.

I will be watching her in my home. I have a 3 year old and a 5 month old also. I don't just watch, I teach. I love to teach my children and read to them and go on little fieldtrips and I plan on doing the same with this child. I have also worked in many preschools. I was guessing maybe $100-$150. Yes I am CPR certified.

Since this is a young child that requires constant supervision I would charge about $4 per hour.
This will work out to between $50 or $75 a week. It is up to you to decided whether to charge a weekly or hourly rate. I would suggest a weekly rate of $75 (for 20 hours)and if it goes over 20 hours than $4 an hour extra. I would also suggest that you have a vacation clause in the deal. If they go on vacation you get 1/3 or 1/2 pay for the week.

Most people around me charge $30 a day. That is a drop off at 8:30 and pick up at 4:30. SO that would be $150 a week. Some people also charge for every 1/2 hour they are late over the agreed pick up time. I think it depends on the expectations that the person has for you. Will you be sitting in her home or yours. I think you both need to come to the table with an amount that you want to charge and have her do the same and then negotiate an amount. You have to remember that this is how you make a living as well! Have a set price in mind and don't go below that price. She needs you probably more than you need her!

That depends on what you'll be doing with the child. Do they want you to take her out in the stroller and read to her and stuff like that, or do they just want someone to sit on the couch with her and watch tv until they come home from work? If they want someone who is more of a nanny, I would charge more, and I would, for the sake of keeping it interesting, try to get them to do the prior.

I would go to the higher price of about $150. You may want to add a little depending if you are going to need gas and food, along with diapers and supplies.

let her decide how much, because on the next week-ends she will give you more and more, and you will be more satisfied. if you not find the price ok just tell her and then you will establish or quit
