Sony and Panasonic have many models to choose from that are within your budget. You can also checkout the camcorder review section of the website. Good luck with your purchase.

There are good Sony camcorders in that price range. Do your research on the internet sites on camcorder reviews. Buy from a well know retailer with money back guarantee. Mini DV is a popular choice. Make sure it comes with the necessary cords etc. to hook up to PC or Mac. It also should come with a program to load up to the PC. Good luck!

I have a Sony Mini DV handicam. I got it for Mothers Day this past spring. I use to video my daughter figure skating. It was the best choice I ever could have made. While the Panosonic is a decent model I feel that Sony holds a stronger product for the DV's. I purchased my handicam on ebay. I saved over $100 compared to retail prices. It also came w/ the warranty. You can't lose here. Check out the link to the Sony dv here:

Good luck!

Here's another guide from that same source:

You've got lots of options, definitely read the reviews to find out what people who've used the models in your price range, like or dislike about them. It looks like Panasonic, Canon & JVC are your most likely picks.

Definitely take a look at the Panasonic PV-GS19, it seems to cost a lot less than other models with a similar rating.

I desire Sony Webbie MHS-CM1 HD Camcorder. This digital camera provides a enormously great image for the cost. even nevertheless it does not have handbook controls, while under intense mild circumstances this digital camera provides. For the cost, this is ideal for the amateur videographer.
