We have been dating for 3 years and I haven't even been asked. We each have houses within a block from each other and have good stable careers. The problem is I am quite embarrassed when people ask us when we are getting married, he just responds to them that we have talked about it, but the truth is he never has brought this subject up, just me! I don't want him to ask me because he feels obligated, but because he loves me. I am feeling really hurt over this and we have discussed my feelings, only to get excuses from him. He says I am over-reacting, but I feel I am being reasonable. Some of his excuses are: he can't afford a ring right now (but he just bought a new car and he claims it was a necessity), he would like to one day, our relationship isn't stable enough (we have less than one argument a month and guess what it is normally about?). I just feel he tries to pacify me on this subject, but why is he choosing to continue our relationship without the intent of marriage?

From a Man point of view, BECAUSE HE CAN! Wake up and smell the toilet. Yeah he's a nice person and he has a job with some goals in life, but it's obviously it not marrying you. As long as I have a couple of cows in my sable I will always have milk (that statement was not to call you a cow).

you boyfriend is happy the way things are.
marriage will complicate some aspects of the relationship, especially financial/inheritance
face it, either he isn't ready or he doesn't intend to wed you.
if you must have an answer from him ...then you ask him to marry you, and if the answer is no then break up with him.
otherwise, stop rubbing his nose in it.

This is a common problem. You need to make a decision on your life, not wait for him.If he can not commit,(and its is time) you need to take charge and cut him off.Right now why would he buy the cow when he is getting the milk for free.

Again why pay for cable if you are getting it free. You need to kick his azz to the curb and find someone who will love you and want to marry you! Before you waste many more years!

This is the way he wants it - no commitment. If this is not acceptable to you, be strong and end the relationship.

darling he's just using you for sex and to have someone to hang out with when he;s not busy..so you should move one and not make yourself so available to him..and see how he's likes it..you are worth much more then just being there when ever he needs you...good luck......
