I genuinly think that evil for like 70% is drawn directly from religion, and im an athiest and i can't figure out how people can kill another person for the sake of a imaginary friend, i mean in islam women can be lashed 100 times for walking around with a man that isn't a direct relative, and they assume they've had premarital sex, and if your gay there, they were sentenced to death by being crushed by a stone wall, i don't know if they've stopped that yet. But its not like its just muslims etc, christians have groups like WBC, that have the slogan "god hates fags", its sickening, and people often pose the point that religion makes people be good, but it only works towards peolpe of ame religion, and if we didnt have religion we hae the natural instinct of morales and conscience.
But yeah it's messed up.
what you guys think, christians, jews, muslims, athiests........
peace,
tomyu

Religion gets a pretty good trashing on the harm it does but really it is not evil. Some - just some - use it as an excuse for what they do but in a lot of cases it is a scapegoat for more political reasons. The Islamic countries want us out - they use their religion to pull together masses to their side - but perhaps the base reason is oil and their wanting to be more influential in the world community. People say George Bush is killing people in the name of Christianity - really he is killing people for, um, oil and he happens to be a devout Christian. Another example people want to use is Hitler - some say he was a Pagan, some a Catholic - really the main point of invading the other countries was to get more space - land was the motive - and then he used Jews and some other minorities for scapegoats. He was also a lunatic but that really didn't have anything to do with religion. Yes a lot has been done in the name of religion but more likely it is land grabbing done with an overcoating of religion to fuel the masses. As far as individual crimes done - mental illness can be attributed to a lot.
I am not Christian myself and yes there is prejudice shown against non-Christians - some of that is human nature - you hate and fear what you do not know or understand - which you see in all cultures regardless of belief.

Most religions in and of themselves are great. It's when people start interpeting and pushing things on other people that it becomes a problem. Human nature is to think you're right and try to get everybody else to come on board with you. With things as deep and important as religion where your afterlife is at stake, that human nature can get blown out of proportion so much that people think they are doing the will of God by killing non-believers.
Also, religion is a great place for evil people to hide. If you go to church all the time and keep up the appearance of being a regular average citizen, then it might take years for the police to find all the bodies buried under your porch. People love labels, because they don't like having to think too much. It's hard for them to believe that a preacher or a faithful church goer could actually be a dangerous person, and that is where evil can use religion to win.

God made each and every thing and all human beings and has a love for us we cant start to comprehend, yet on account that guy replaced into made we've been sinful and stopped following Gods be conscious, thats how different religions began using fact guy needs to worship the way he needs and do what he needs, so they convey a god that pleases them, thats why you spot many faiths with immoral sexuality, in hinduism they have temples the place you prepare in orgies and that they inspire you to have intercourse with animals, in the quran it says the jihad could have seventy two virgins who lack character and purely crave intercourse and that the mans penis could have an eternal erection to safeguard all of them, this is sinful you will locate the evil in that, and what human beings dont comprehend is once you worship some thing else as properly God your unknowingly worshiping the devil for the devil is sin and needs all guy to fall from Gods grace, God loves us lots once you circulate and worship yet another "god" its particularly undesirable, Say you have a son and you adore him extra desirable than something and you circulate to the park sometime and all the unexpected he sees yet another father and comes to a decision he needs him to be his new father, Your going to be offended yet its a righteous anger you enjoyed your son extra desirable than something and he acts such as you do not even exist now. comprehend?

I disagree. Religion is man trying to explain things he cannot possibly understand. This is not evil, just misguidance. True guidance is gained through faith in the great teacher I call God. Through prayer, which is common to all religions, can we communicate with the spiritual world. Religions explanations are so varied and confusing it is mind boggling. Satan is the author of confusion, not God. Seek learning by asking the source, not man. If you have faith and pray for the answers, they will be given to you as you are mature enough to understand. Patience is necessary, after all it takes twelve years just to get through public education in the US. Books are a good souce of learning, but do not depend on only one book when there is a library full of them to read. Pray for the understanding of what you are led to read as God wants you to understand it. You will find that of all things, God is the only constant in religion, as is prayer.

Yes religion = evil brainwashing. The writings in their books of directions actually command people to override their humanity in the name of their god. It's idiotic!

Intolerance and religion feed off of each other. I know xians who are very open-minded and others who are loonies. People tend towards religions that they agree with, then they mutually reinforce each other. Like political perties.
