No, you do not need a passport for domestic internal flights. You do, however, need some form of id to prove that you are the person who has been issued the ticket. Given the tightening of security, some airlines and airports will request photo id.

This depend on what is your legal status in the country. Example;
(1) If you are not a citizen in the country, then you have to keep your copy of Green Card as well as Passport. It requires
(2) If you are a citizen then you do not have to keep passport with you. A picture ID (DR. License) that is enough for you.

You dont need a passport but you need to check with the airline what id they allow. i work for Ryanair and you need a EU issued photographic driving licence a passport or a EEA id card which we dnt have. If you travel on ya driving licence you have to have been born within the EU. so if you were bron in america, oz ,NZ africa india etc you will be refused travel unless you have ya passport. we get people turning up with all sorts like bus passes! and SU cards!

You don't need a passport to fly within the United Kingdom, but most carriers ask that you check-in with photographic ID (either a passport or driving license)
