Best is to check with his doctor, usually at one year the doctor does a iron check. (Because formula is iron-fortified) In my experience, the doctor checks to see if the baby's iron level is good and then gives the go ahead for cow's milk. My kid's doctor always told me to stick with either whole milk or the very least 2%. Begin low-fat or skim milk after the age of two.

Hello Hun.... Yes a one year old child can consume cows milk but best to do it slowly. I found with my eldest, he landed up being lactose intolerant! So start by mixing with cereal and see how he reacts to it ie upset tummy or vomiting. If he does have a bad reaction, you could try him on a soya milk until he is a bit older and then try again. They do grow out of it. Most children are fine first time round though xx :)

my son was premature and on enfamil. by one year of age, i started giving him a little mik here and a little there. once i had determined he would have no problems, i put him on milk. when the pediatrician asked if he was still on formula at his 12 mo check up (which we did at 13 months becuase he was premiee) and i said no, he was on milk, he just nodded and said, "fabulous job, mom. i never have to worry about your kids." he was the head of the children's hospital. the only reason to not give them milk the whole time (which i got by the way from day one with no problems) is digestive problems. if they dont exsist, you don't really need the formula. my grandma raised 6 healthy children on cow milk and (can you imagine how fat theymust've been) condensed milk and nary a problem. good luck.

It is safe for a 1 yr. old to drink cow's milk. If he is eating table food regularly. The reason for the formula is to maintain the vitamins, minerals and other important needs like protein, for a growing child. Who is not getting it from a regular diet. At age 1 they can digest properly and they are getting everything they need from the solid foods they eat.Just make sure they get enough from each food group

Yes he can, but it has been my experience that switching over gradually works best. Be sure to give him whole milk until he is 2yrs old, because they need to fat to grow right now. Some of my kids had a problem with constipation when I switched to milk, but it resolved itself as they got used to it. Good luck!
P.S. Make sure he is eating lots of healthy foods to replace the vitimins that are in the formula.

Yes. By their first birthday is when they should be switched over to cows milk (unless otherwise stated by your pediatrician). Sometimes it's suggest that this be done gradually in case the child reacts differently towards it.

Yes--cow milk--let it sit in a container and then skim off the cream first.
