Odd, and here I thought that a person needed a visa to come into the country. How silly of me, people who are living here illegally and breaking our laws should be put at the front of the line of people wishing to live legally in our country. People who do things legally and follow the rules must be fools who are laughed at by those cutting in front of them in line. Leaving the country and coming back legally is obviously not the answer.
It is very generous of Cuba and Mexico to send us their criminals and malcontents.

How did they get into USA, illigally or legally. I think Illigally otherwise they would not be paying so many $$$$$ through their a**.
Personally I dont think they deserve visa, few bad people spoil the name of genuine people immigrants.
I am surprised that they have not been sent back to their own countries, why are they abusing the system when there are hundreds who are waiting respectively.
Anyway you are using the wrong words, you should say living permit or residence permit, not visa. Visa you get before entering a Country. And please do not generalise and say " impossible for a foreigner to get visa, all foreigners are not denied Visa.

Well, they are putting the cart before the horse, aren't they? You say they have been here for several years ... the idea of visas and permits is that you get them before you take up residency in a country ... what is it with some people that they come here illegally, or are overstayers, pay no attention to our immigration laws, and then all of a sudden want to make it all OK again ...

If your friends have secure employment, their employer (and or University) would be most helpful in assisting with the visa process. I think you're friend has beens swindled in being charged $40K!

It depends on their circumstances. What are they here on if they don't have visas?
