The word processor is basically a copy of Microsoft Word, The Gimp is OK, the OS itself requires a lot of code writing, and if you like to play games, it's freakin' hard just to get it installed on your computer let alone actually playing them. If all that's good about it is the security, then I'd rather have my computer be able to do stuff and be not as secure, then be totally secure and not be able to do anything with it.

Well, Unix has been around a lot longer than any version of Microsoft Windows, and Linux is a newer version of that, with a GUI.

Linux isn't FOR gaming, it's for people that want a stable, open-source (very important) operating system that's free. It's just ok for the desktop, but it' great as an operating system for servers and machines that need to run 24/7 without problems. Many Internet providers use Linux for their web hosting servers and remote access servers. When it comes to stability, Windows is at the bottom of the list- in part due to all the security holes, worms & viruses that affect it, in part due to all the patches to fix those problems.

You'd rather have a computer that can do lots of stuff but maybe isn't as secure- for many businesses it's the opposite. In the business world, computers often only run 1 or 2 programs, but those 1 or 2 programs have to ALWAYS work, and they can't go down. Machines that handle real-time data from the stock market, or log financial transactions, etc.

Even for home users, there are a few benefits. Don't want to pay $500 for the Microsoft office suite? Use StarOffice or OpenOffice. Don't want an OS that crashes every few days (or in the case of Win98, perhaps daily)? Then use Linux, or MacOS.

For gaming, you've gotta have a new-gen console like the Xbox 360 or a machine running Windows XP, it's the only platform that developers really support.

it doesnt have so many known errors like a windows has and its fast than windows xp and if you are a comp. wiz you can even devote your own ideas and make one or help making one, its freee if you have a linux then you dont even need to have a antivirus program in your comp, its itself protecttive for so what kind of viruses, i would say in probably 5-7 years from now on everyone will be using linux than windows.

OK, you've answered your own question. If you're happy with what you've got, MS Windows, then carry on using that.
You're not obliged to use Linux. If you find it too difficult and have such a low opinion of open source software why bother?
