The world has used Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) since 1884 to synchronize clocks. GMT is 3:09 pm 10/8/06 Sunday.

Where I live it is 10:09 am 10/8/06 Sunday.
In Japan it is 12:09 am 10/9/06 Monday.

So it depends on where you live on the globe.
