My small dauschaund is my best friend. We do everything together. I want him to be happy with his life and I want to do what is necessary for him to be fulfilled. Perhaps just loving him is not enough. Are there any suggestions for this?

"Exercise, discipline, and affection" are the three things Cesar Millan always talks about. Cesar recommends 40 minutes minimum of exercise daily, being your dog's pack leader, and giving affection at appropriate times (when the dog is calm-submissive).

Exercise your dog, play with him, feed him, groom him, take him to the vet for checkups and when ill, train him so he is a good citizen, and love him!

Depends on what your dog likes. My Lab loves to play ball, go for walks, loves car rides and loves to visit people. And every day I do all that with him at least once a day. In the summer he goes swimming, and if we can not get to the beach he has a kid's pool in the backyard. But he also loves quiet time with me, so every night and morning we have to lay in bed, even if it is for only 15 minutes it means a lot to him. You can tell what a dog likes, by their attitude and interest level.

You know what Cesar Milan would say "take him for long walks"! The dog Whisperer has changed the way I take care of my dogs.

dogs enjoy just being a dog sometimes. let him around other dogs to play and sniff butts and after hes done being a dog , then he can be your friend. you'll see a big difference that he is happier if you do this at least once a week.

Yes feed him, make sure he is healthy and happy. Train him so he will be a good pet, and not be in trouble all the time.
