No and No. Itis an artificial sweetener, no matter what the advertising says. Those chemicals wil eventually bear out to be as bad as aspartame and saccharin.

The problem with artificial sweeteners is that the market requires the miracle low cal sweetener that they rush these things without long range tests. We'll probably see in a year or two that Splenda is just as bad as sacarine and causes cancer or birth defects.
Just stick to plain old sugar and cut your intake. I know, it's hard to do....but less risky in the long run.

No.
1.) It is made from Sucralose. Even the splenda manufacturer stated "No artificial sweetener made in the laboratory is going to be neither natural to the body nor safer than unprocessed sugar."
2.) Splenda has Chlorine and anyone who is eats chlorine on a regular basis is at risk of cancer. The Merk Manuel and OSHA 40 SARA 120 Hazardous Waste Handbook states that chlorine is a carcinogen and emergency procedures should be taken when exposed via swallowing, inhaling, or through the skin.
3.) Users are reporting abdominal pain, bloating, gas, nausea, diarrhea, headaches, and even heart palpitations, dizziness and shortness of breath after consuming the stuff.
4.) Splenda® research documents numbness of the hind legs in male rats and has negative effects on the livers, spleens and kidneys of laboratory animals
There is now a book out about Splenda being safe or not and the author is Dr. Janet Hull.

people are afraid of chemicals in this country. There has never been anything unsafe proven about aspartame sacharrin or nutrasweet. Splenda is derived from plant sugars so it is technically real sugar, but your body cannot digest it. The only problem I can think of is that if you had too much, it could upset your stomach but I would think you would need to add quite a bit, at least 4 or 5 times a regular serving.
Whatever the dangers are if ther are any, and there probably aren't I am sure they are outweighed by the benefit of reducing your sugar intake.
