Hi Hun! All the things you put down are very good in helping you control your depression. So do the natural diet, exercise and vitiamins are all good things to do. However the one thing that helps me feel the best is getting out around other people, this is also the hardest thing for me to do. It is so helpful to communicate and mingle with others, as this helps you to have a better out look on life. I tend to keep myself locked up at home. This does not help my depression, infact it makes it worse. So try to get out, go to the store, the library, church if you go, go to a gym, or go to school events like ball games etc. This is called living in the face of depression. If you don't get out the depression gets worse, I know. I feel 100% better when I get out. Good luck hun! Start out slow, but make it an altimate that you get out. Hugs! Von

Depression is caused by a serotonin deficit. Some aliments contain serotonin, such as chocolate, bananas. That's why you're feeling good after eating them. There is also a plant that combats depression: Hyperici herba, which is also used in treating ulcer. If your depression persists and you are unhappy most of the time, you need to see a psychiatrist, especially if you're having bad thoughts (death, hopeless, useless etc) for a treatement with antidepressants. Believe me, I've been there, done that and got rid of that. Good luck! God be with you!

Good question, I wish I knew the answer three years ago. I am now divorced. I am bi-polar, and it has not been easy. But I take Lithium and see a counselor once a month. As long as you take your meds, and learn more about you and what makes you feel this way you will be fine. I would give anything not to be the way I am, but I have to do the best that I can. Good luck!

I am on lexapro too but diet does make a difference. I can not go on a low carb diet. I get anxious and more depressed plus I can't sleep. Sugar makes me feel bad too (after a while). I do better with complex carbs. I also take a high dose of Vitamin B complex. I feel much better after I exercise too. Also prayer, reading the Bible, going to church helps too.

By exercising you are doing a very good thing. Drink a lot of water, eat healthy. I can't take meds but I'm doing ok most of the time just trying to stay positive and busy with life.

I went through depression for about two years and I was finally able to overcome it... I exercised... I started writing out my feelings and that really helped! Also, I found the opening up to others was very helpful...

Believe in YOU, and the fact that difficulties are just obstacles and challenges that have come our way in order to be overtaken.
My friend.....everything is between our ears.
If we accept it....... it exists.
If we reject it........it vanishes and pops like a soap bubble.
Life keeps going on. Are you ready to follow?
No medication, no remedies, not anything. Only Love for Life.
He said. "Love thy neighbour as love thyself". This "as love thyself" is the main key.
You cannot love to any neighbour if you haven't given love to thyself, because you don't know how to give love.
How is it possible to give love to someone who is 5, 10, 15, 20 hours near by you and you have refused to give love to a person who is 24/7 by you (yourself).
So my friend.
LOVE THY SELF. and,......
Know thyself..... (it will make things easier.)

Depression is anger turned inwards, so to overcome it, you need to get to the root of what has angered you, and forgive the person who did you wrong, even if that person is yourself. Remember, forgiving yourself is harder to do than forgiving others, so this will take some deep soul searching.
Good luck to you.

I'm on Zoloft...love it!! trust me i don't like being on medication...i forget to take it, i didn't want to admit there was something wrong with me, and its just plain embarrassing...but sometimes you just have to admit that there are some things you just can't control...but exercising is a huge part in helping...good luck
