She has a Saturn that is in great condition, it's paid for and she just got a new Saturn View. She wants the title of the old car to be in my name. Does she have to SELL it to me and if so can she sell it for a buck? What do we need to do to get the ball rolling?

inspite of what you owe, what you paid, or what you gets a commission for the sale of the automobile; as others have suggested, the shopper will pay the sales tax on the transaction no longer you the service provider. BTW, you already paid sales tax on the automobile back once you obtain it.

Yes, but there's a good chance that the state will assess use tax (same rate as sales tax) on the low blue book value.

Most states have caught onto this gig!!! DMV will add value...Usually "Blue Book"!!!
She can give ya' the car as a gift...But, ya' will still have to pay taxes, etc. Best way to insure least amount of taxes, is take vehicle to a mechanic*, car dealership*, etc., have them value the car...Act as if, ya' looking to dump the vehicle cheap...Have then write value of it on their letterhead. That way ya' have proof of value for DMV.

*They usually lowball!!!

I don't know about the State of Texas, but you certainly could do it in England! Example Married man leaves his wife for young Hot Mistress, while vacationing in Spain he finds that he is tight of cash and telephones jilted wife asking her to please sell his Jaguar and send him the much needed money as soon as possible! Jillted wife puts ad in newspaper next day advertising Brand New Jaguar for 1 English Pound! The car sold in 10 minutes, and being a good wife she wired the money to him ASAP!...............True Story

I don't see why not but would check at the office where you would get the title transferred. It should save you a bundle on sales taxes.
