If the cold sore has already opened, then the ONLY medicine that will heal it faster is called Choraphor. None of the prescription medicines that I have ever used work as fast as this:

This page outlines a bunch of cold sore remedies that work, both medicinal and home treatments:

Entire glossary listing all of the best cold sore treatments compiled on to one web page:

The herpes simplex virus creates cold sores/fever blisters. Anybody might be infected with them by drinking someone else's drink, eating with someone else's utensils, sharing lip balm, or by lip contact with anyone which is carrying herpes simplex virus. The swollen red bumps are usually fairly unpleasant blisters that can surface next to the lip area, or possibly the inside of the mouth or nostril, elsewhere on the face, or any place else on the body.
Cold sores could come back because of amplified stress and anxiety, the common cold, fever, cold temperature, particular foods, or maybe an excess of sun. The area may begin to itch, and after that a blister will surface. The sore will dry and build a yellow crusting. They will stick around from seven days to 14 days. You could try to cover it up the sore using foundation, however that typically tends to make the cold sore a whole lot worse.
To get rid of them, an individual may consider using a cold sore special ointment, apply lip balm with SPF 15, use vanilla extract, ingest echinacea, vitamins C as well as E, and also absolutely avoiding touching it. By implementing a few lifestyle changes, it can be doable to avoid them and inhibit them from reoccurring.

This really WORKS. At the first sign of a cold sore..that tingly feeling...take an ice cube and rub it on the spot. Hold it there hard now and then too until you cant stand it any more. Repeat this as much and as many times that you can until the feeling stops. Costs nothing and works for me. I used to get cold sores a lot but I havent had one since I found this method. Just make sure you pay attention and catch it at the first sign because once it has erupted it wont help.

The ice cube works for me too, but if you miss it then, try Vegimite. I think the vitamin B might be of some help but not sure. I just know this has worked for me a friends. Apply like you would any normal cream, leave to sit. next day...gone!
