Someone I know was in a wreck and I had to go to the emergency room after drinking. I ate something and drank a lot of water on the way but still, as my husband said, smelled like a brewery. I felt bad!

Just wanted everyone to know that I did NOT drink and drive. My husband drove and he had not been drinking.

Theres no real way. once you consume liqour or beer its released threw the body. Meaning you can smell it because little particles get on your clothing. Not to mention your breathe.

Take a mint for your breathe, change your clothes, take a shower and throw on some perfume, you should be good to go.

You can't. Alcohol breath comes from your lungs, not your mouth. Some of the alcohol in your blood stream evaporates out through the cilia in your lungs, and comes out when you breathe. It's this that causes your breath to smell like alcohol. The alcohol smell goes away when you don't have any more alcohol in your blood stream, and there's nothing you can do to hasten along that process. At that point it's just your liver doing all the work and unfortunately you can't tell your liver to hurry up.

By the way that's how come breathalizers can measure your BAC

Brush your teeth with a minty paste and then brush your TONGUE well and way in the back of your throat. Then smack on a couple pieces of wrigley's spearamint gum! The problem with alcohol is, it takes an hour per ounce of pure alcohol for your liver to oxidize it from your blood. Until then it comes out your pores and you'll smell like it all over your body. Taking a shower can help with that. (yeah right you're 21) :P

I was told that eating peanuts helps reduce the smell of alcohol breath . . .

Peanut butter helps. You can't fully get rid of it though.

Various people have told me that by setting a nickle under your tongue the nickle properties react with your saliva to neutralize the mouth odor. (Wash it thoroughly first, of course)
