The Catholic church is the richest in the world. It even owns its own country! Why does it insist on collecting money from its poor believers? The Catholic church should be supporting its loyal followers, the poor, with gifts of gold.

On one hand you have a very good point. There is a "business" side of the Catholic Church. On the other side of that coin your statement is very close to the one Judas made to justify betraying Jesus. I do not believe in asking for money at all but I do believe that if GOD leads someone to give to GOD that's awesome. I also believe that whoever receives this money should be extremely careful what they do with it.

It accepts donations and offerings....if you are offended why give? Are you worried what your neighbours think or are you sincerely expecting good to the poor?
How the money is spent can be addressed at business meetings of the church. As a matter of record, the Catholic church supported individual churches in poor areas that were not self-supporting throughout its history.

The Catholic church gives more money to charities and to the poor than any other organization in the world.
Why don't you get yourself elected pope and make some changes, if you're not happy?

i agree with 1000% see rich is getting richer and poor is getting poorer por gives money to the church so he goes to heaven othervise u end up in hell which i could'nt find it yet
