It is law that they can't serve you in the same glass and your right it is health and safety but most barmaids will use the same glass if you ask the only way round it is order another drink b4 finishing the last one and pour the new one in your old glass.

It is law that drinks are served in clean glasses, because of cross contamination.
If the nozzle of the beer head, bottle or pourer, touches the glass, the germs will be transferred to it, and then to the next customers drink...
And if you think of how many drinks they would touch , thats a lot of peoples germs, being transferred to each others drinks..
how many times, u hear the bottle of wine touch the glass.
Thats is also why the bar staff, should not hold the glass around the top as their hands, touch the part ur lips will come in contact with.

It is correct, rubbish I know. Why don't you pour the fresh pint into your used glass. The point is that that the bar person has to put the creamer into the liquid, the glass will still have remnants of you spittle in the glass. There are some quite nasty deceases that are passed through Silvia. While we are on the subject, do you drink from a beer bottle? Rats and other rodents love cellars and beer stores. They tend to P##S on the crates and bottles, I know that most pubs don't clean and disinfect the necks of bottles.

You have rights but think about this that maybe a law requirement that that particular bar must go by. Frankly people are always trying to SUE different business,Think a person may try to put some type of DRUG into their own glass to BLAME on the bartender/business, This is for the benefit of that company/business, THEY DO NOT WANT/NEED ANY TYPE OF LAW SUITES. Not that you would do this but there are some CRAZY/EVIL people out there in this world that would do just about anything. Take Care

I used to be staff rep (glorified barmaid) in a very big club. I used to serve the customers their drinks in their old glass if they wanted it that way. But really the law states that now bars and clubs HAVE to serve you with clean glasses every time. Silly, I know, but that's how it is!!

No you can't. By putting your lips to the glass you have contaminated it with your bacteria. When that used glass is refilled, say with lager, the nozzle from the lager pump is immersed in the lager filling your contaminated glass. The glass contaminates the lager, the lager contaminates the pump, and therefore potentially the next person who has a lager from that pump. Got to admit though that this hygiene rule is more often than not ignored.

They are obliged to serve it in a fresh glass. What you could do (if your hand is steady after drinking) is decant it from the new glass into the other glass.

Although I have seen bartenders refill the same glass, I don't think they're supposed to for the same reason you're not supposed to re-use your plate at the buffet. It is a state health code and it's for sanitary reasons.
