Why does Jesus call the Canaanite woman a little dog in Matthew 15. I ask, cause heres another quote from another part of the bible, in Revelation 22:15 it says dogs don't get into heaven.

Now, I know of course that the use of the word dog in Revelation means male prostitute, and I of course know that Jesus was "testing the faith" of the woman,

Do you know how I "know" these things, and not just a plain reading of it,

cause I asked the question on yahoo answers, and a Christian gave me a good interpretation that made sense.

And from moments like that, came understanding.

Now, if I don't understand something, is it ok for me to ask about it, say why is child slavery permissible in Leviticus 25:45?

Is it ok to ask a question about the Bible as many times as it takes in as many ways for it to make sense to the questioner?

ALERT TO ALL CHRISTIANS---Before you answer this guy, you should know why he asked it. He's only trying to destroy. Destroy Christians beliefs and faith. He has his own little deity he created in mockery of Jesus Christ. It's called the 'Flying spaghettti monster". No kidding. Read his profile yourself. He's only out to remove HOPE and FAITH.

Jesus came to Israel.
They were considered (at the time) the children of God.
His people.
The woman, being from Tyre, or Sidon, was not an Israelite, not one of God's chosen nation.
Jesus chose to refer to her as a little dog.
Please note she did not object.
She continued the illustrative speech.
She understood the Israelites came first.
She was so convincing Jesus did what she asked.
You might call it 'puppy love'.

In the Bible the gentiles were different, and Jesus had the intention of saving God's people first before others, sure He wanted to save them too, but priority takes place. However, He is amazed by her faith, and eventually she got saved too. 1 question back for you: why do u always question only the bad things but make no mention of the good things in the Bible?

Those christians out there should be happy because our asker must be reading the bible a lot to come up with so many questions which he has doubts in them.
All of you christians should then try to answer his doubt so as to be able to convert him.
Why don't take it as a challenge and not doubt his intention in trying to find answers.

Jesus was saying that the Canaanite woman needed to have real faith in Him for Him to cure her child. He did not call her a dog. but used the phraise "dog" as an example for not wanting to waste His time and miricles on soneone unless their faith was real.

Matthew 15:26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.

Defination of the word meet-- better, fair, good (-ly), honest, meet, well, worthy.

You actually need to real the entire scripture in order to fully understand what Jesus is saying...

Matthew 15:22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.

27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.

28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

Here's a thought, why don't you take a Bible study class. If you kept your mouth shut long enough you might just learn something.
